The Bride and Groom

How you met your fiancé? I took a new teaching job where Jeb’s mother worked in the office as a secretary. She had tried to set us up, but he was very busy being a firefighter and also going through the police academy. I was hospitalized for a few days about a month into the job, and his mom asked him to check on me by looking me up on facebook. Needless to say, he found me and messaged me and we haven’t stopped talking since then

How did he propose? He took me for a weekend getaway to stay at The Harbor Inn at Possum Kingdom Lake. We had dinner at The Grille and he walked me out onto the boat dock when we were finished. We walked to the edge of the dock and he got down on one knee and proposed right before sunset. It was beautiful.

Your Bridal Gown & Accessories

Who was the wedding gown designer, and what was the style? Maggie Sottero Style S5229 Karena Royale in Ivory Lace over Light Gold with Gold Ribbon. I also had the Maggie Sottero Style CS13533 Emma cap sleeves only in light gold added to the dress.

What was your favorite Feature about your dress: I love that the golden colored sash almost matched the color of my hair and I added the cap sleeves which gave it the vintage look I was going for.

How did you know your dress was “the one”? I had picked it out in a magazine before ever going to the boutique. It was one of the first I tried on and I kept going back to it. When I put it on one last time after trying several others on, I knew it was the one. I honestly felt like a princess in it.

Describe your experience at Pence & Panache: Pence & Panache had excellent customer service. I scheduled appointments in advance the times I went. They were professional and really made me feel at ease about trying on dresses. I never felt pressured about purchasing something until I knew I was 100 percent sure on what I wanted. The dress came in very quickly and I was so pleased to deal with ladies that were kind and really made me feel like a bride.

What accessories did you choose to accent your dress: I added the cap sleeves onto the dress to give it more of a vintage look that I wanted. I also chose a vintage style crystal clip to go in my hair that closely matched the one on the sash of my dress. I wore lace shoes with a golden undertone to match the intricate lace in my dress.

Your Wedding Day

Wedding Venue: The N at Hard Way Ranch

Who was your Wedding Photographer: Zach Weber Photography

What was your “something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue”? My something old was a piece of lace from my mother’s wedding veil that was placed into my shoes along with a penny. I borrowed an ankle bracelet from my mother in law and wore a new James Avery key to my heart charm on it. My parents also purchased me a beautiful necklace and earring set as something new and my father surprised me with a diamond bracelet. My something blue was on my garter. It was a beautiful handmade garter with a tiffany blue flower on it.

What color palette did you select? We used neutral/earth tone colors. My dress was ivory with gold tones, so we had the groomsmen in khaki and green. The bridesmaids were also in a khaki color and then we incorporated blush, green, and brown tones throughout.

How do you describe the theme of your wedding? Our wedding was rustic chic/vintage. We love the outdoors and the simple things in life. We incorporated that into our wedding.

What is your #1 tip for brides in the planning process? Don’t let the planning take away from the joy. I planned every bit of my wedding and was so overwhelmed at times that I forgot to stop and just enjoy myself. Once you have the big things taken care of like your dress, venue, photographer ect., take the time to just enjoy yourself. Don’t sweat the little things. Some of the small details I was so concerned about are details that no one else even remembers or noticed.

Do you have any advice for brides who are still searching for their perfect bridal gown? You will know when it is the right one. Go with what makes you comfortable and makes you feel like a princess. Don’t choose something that someone else likes and you do not. It is your day, trust your instincts and everything will work out for you.

What was your favorite part of your wedding day? My favorite part of the day was taking the walk down the long stone pathway with my dad. It is a walk I will remember forever because I am his only little girl.
