The Bride and Groom

How you met your fiancé? Mason and I met in high school. I was a sophomore and he was a junior at Granbury High School when we started dating. We were both in the marching band and on the varsity tennis team. We dated all through high school and during college at the University of Arkansas.

How did he propose? The day started out with a “first time” mother/daughter spa day. Mom had had a long week, I was about to head back to school, and we had a wedding to go to on Saturday. So, it sounded like fun to me. Afterward, we made an all too common stop at Bealls to look for something cute to wear. We were going to meet our family friend at Starbucks. At Starbucks my mom kept checking her phone but I didn’t think anything of it because I thought it was just a work emails since she took the day off. In reality, she was texting Mason. During our conversation, Mom suddenly said, “We have to go get Mason.” I was so confused. She said he had been helping his mom at Convocation for the start of the new school year and he had just had enough. This did make sense, because I knew his mom was at the school for something and Mason is very helpful but does have his “limit” – lol! So, we quickly left and headed to the High School. I knew something was up when we turned to head down to the tennis courts, rather than the front entrance. As we pulled up, I could see something red out by the courts and saw Mason walking towards the car. I got out and he walked me over to the courts and Mom and Lauren quickly pulled away. As Mason began to talk to me, I noticed a lady taking pictures of the softball fields and tennis courts, which I thought was weird. But, I figured that this was our BIG moment and I wasn’t going to let it distract me. During his proposal speech, Mason handed me a tennis ball. He told me to “open it”. Inside, it read “Will you marry me?”. I looked up and Mason was down on one knee with the most beautiful engagement ring. Of course I said YES!! I was shaking so bad Mason had to hold my hand still just to put the ring on my finger. The moment I had been dreaming of for almost seven years had happened!!! Remember the lady taking pictures? Well, come to find out, Mason had been working with my Mom for days to have a photographer capture “the moment”. Mason did an excellent job with the proposal – especially being so secretive. After some pictures and letting the moment sink in a little, we headed back to my house. I ran in and showed off the ring to everyone! We decided to go out to celebrate at my favorite Mexican restaurant in town. When we walked in, I noticed there was a large table reserved for us! Mason had yet another surprise for me! He had arranged for our families to all come and have dinner. My Grandparents and Great Aunt had come from Iowa and Missouri. Mason’s Grandparents, my sister and her boyfriend were there. Plus, our parents and many other family friends were all there to celebrate with us! I was so in shock the whole night that I could hardly eat because I was so distracted by my beautiful ring. August 23, 2013 is a day that I will never forget. Mason had incorporated everything I had dreamed about (and “pinned” on Pinterest – LOL) all into ONE extraordinary day! It was so special to celebrate with our families. It meant the world to me and Mason!

Your Bridal Gown & Accessories

Who was the wedding gown designer, and what was the style? Allure style 9066

What was your favorite Feature about your dress: How can I pick just one. I love the beautiful all over lace. The crystal and pearl belt added just the right amount of bling. And the V-shaped back was the perfect surprise!

How did you know your dress was “the one”? I had narrowed it down to two dresses. I was trying on both of them one after another and I think I knew in my heart that this dress was “the one”, but it wasn’t until my mom and godmother pointed out to me that in my dress I would say love and in the other I only said like. It was then that I really knew I had found “the one”!

Describe your experience at Pence & Panache: My experience at Pence & Panache was amazing. The staff was so helpful and patient. My favorite thing was that I was able to pick out what dresses I wanted to try on. I had been to other stores where I wasn’t able to see what dresses were available to me and the consultant just picked the dresses. The staff was amazing, the selection of dresses was large and the catwalk was amazing!

What accessories did you choose to accent your dress: I chose a beautiful headband with flowers, crystals, and pearls to wear instead of a veil from Pence & Panache. My earrings were from Bealls and my bracelet was my mom’s.

Your Wedding Day

Wedding Venue: A and M Gardens in Azle, TX

Who was your Wedding Photographer: Double Knot Photography

What was your “something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue”? Something old / something borrowed was my broach bouquet and the lace I used to wrap my bouquet was from my grandma’s wedding dress. My bouquet was filled with broaches I had found at thrift stores and antiques stores with help from family and friends. Some were gifts and two were borrowed from my grandma. They all had special meanings to me. Like an airplane for my dad who is a pilot, a hog for the University of Arkansas, and the state of Texas to name a few. Something new was my dress, shoes and accessories. And the something blue was in some of the broaches of my bouquet.
